34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which is translated, “My God, my God, why[a] have you forsaken me?”)[b] 35 And some of the bystanders, when they[c] heard it,[d] said, “Behold, he is summoning Elijah!” 36 And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it[e] on a reed, and[f] gave it[g] to him to drink, saying, “Leave him[h] alone! Let us see if Elijah is coming to take him down.”
